Women's Dress Size Guide

Use this guide to help select a suitable dress size at Untsdress.us. The measurements below are general body-measurement guidelines and should not be treated as exact garment measurements.

Sizing can vary according to the design, fabric, stretch, and fit of each dress. When a product page includes its own size chart or garment measurements, please use the product-specific information first.

General Body Size Chart

Measure your body while wearing lightweight clothing or undergarments. Keep the measuring tape level and comfortably close to the body without pulling it too tightly.

How to Measure Yourself

Bust

Measure around the fullest part of your bust. Keep the tape level across your back and allow it to rest naturally without compressing the body.

Waist

Measure around your natural waistline, usually the narrowest part of your torso. Stand naturally and avoid holding your breath or pulling the tape too tightly.

Hips

Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat. Make sure the tape remains level around your body.

Shoulder Width

Measure across your upper back from one shoulder point to the other. Shoulder measurements can be especially useful for fitted, structured, or sleeved dresses.

Sleeve Length

Measure from the shoulder point down the outside of your arm to the desired sleeve end. Keep your arm slightly bent while measuring.

Dress Length

Measure from the highest shoulder point down to the position where you would like the hem to fall. Dress length can appear different depending on your height, torso length, and body proportions.

Choosing Between Two Sizes

If your measurements fall between two sizes, consider the dress design and the fit you prefer.

  • Choose the larger size when the dress is fitted, structured, woven, non-stretch, or close-fitting through the bust, waist, or hips.
  • The smaller size may be suitable for relaxed, oversized, elasticated, wrap-style, or stretch designs, depending on the product measurements.
  • Use your largest relevant measurement when one part of your body falls into a different size range.
  • Allow additional room if you prefer a looser fit or plan to wear layers beneath the dress.

Fabric and Stretch

Stretch fabrics may provide more flexibility than woven or structured materials. Product photographs alone cannot confirm how much a fabric stretches, so check the product description for available fabric and construction details.

Body Measurements and Garment Measurements

Body measurements describe your body. Garment measurements describe the actual dimensions of the dress. Garment measurements may be larger than body measurements to provide ease, movement, or a relaxed silhouette.

When garment measurements are provided, compare them with a similar dress that already fits you well. Lay the dress flat, measure the same areas, and compare the results with the product information.

Measuring Tips

  • Use a flexible fabric measuring tape.
  • Measure over lightweight clothing or undergarments.
  • Keep the tape level and parallel to the floor.
  • Do not pull the tape so tightly that it presses into the body.
  • Measure twice to confirm the result.
  • Ask another person to help with shoulder and length measurements.
  • Record measurements in both inches and centimeters when possible.

We can help explain the sizing information available for a product, but we cannot guarantee an exact fit because fit also depends on body shape, personal preference, fabric, and garment construction.

This size guide is provided for general reference. Product-specific charts and measurements take priority when they differ from this page. Please review the applicable return and exchange terms before ordering, especially when purchasing multiple sizes or an item for a specific event date.
